Just Keep Moving

Last Thursday was wod 13.1 for the Crossfit Games. I'm so happy I signed up. I was apprehensive about it at first because I'm only 8 weeks into crossfit. I'm not that good.

When I walked into that gym Thursday, you could feel all the emotions. Everyone was anxious but excited. I felt the exact same way when I was in labor with both of my kids. No really, it was the exact same feelings.

My judge was ready to count my reps for me. She had done The Open last year and gave me some advice. She told me to just keep moving. It didn't matter how slow I was going as long as I just kept moving. I got my weights set up and chalked the floor where I wanted my hands to land for the burpees. I measured 6 inches above my head to the pull-up bar for the jump at the end of the burpees.

By this time, my heart is pounding. I'm was trying not to think of a total rep number in my head. I didn't want to be disappointed. The last time I had done anywhere near 40 burpees it took me 7 minutes and I had never done a snatch before, much less 30 in a row.

The clock started and I took off doing my burpees. Making sure my chest touched the ground. I started out pretty fast. At about 20 or 25 I slowed down a little but I felt like I was still making good time. By the time I got to 40, Kathy yelled out 3:43. I seriously wanted to a happy dance right there. I had done 40 burpees in 3 minutes and 43 seconds. Thats a good 3 minutes faster than the last time!

It was time to move on to the snatches. There were a few times I had to lay the bar down and shake it out. I tried to go by 5's. I would do 5 at a time and shake it out for a few seconds. When I was done with the snatches there was 11:23 on the board. I was really suprised there was that much time left. I had to do 30 burpees again. By this time, I'm exhausted. I got my 30 burpees in with about 15 seconds to spare. I tried to get 75 lbs on the bar for next round of snatches but I ran out of time. I don't even know if I could do a 75 lb snatch but I was sure as hell going to try.

After the workout, Kathy {who was an amazing judge/cheerleader} counted up my total reps. It was 100! I never imagined I would make it that far! I'm extremely happy with that number.

Here are a few photo's from our gym. These were taken by Carolina Sunshine Designs. If you're in the Central Texas area, go book her! She is amazing!!

It was intense and I can't wait for this Thursday! Hopefully, it'll be as good as the last!!
